playon server

so i've been using playon media server from media mall to stream internet content to my various media players. i bought a popcorn hour a-110 to use as a media stream client on my tv, which also can read a good amount of codecs for avi/mkv etc etc. unfortunately it seems that playon server and the a-110 have some issues with eachother, at least in the newest firmware update (which i can't revert to an older version it seems .. at least not easily) so i've been streaming playon to my ps3 (i've yet to try the 360, but it should work as well)

playon provides a plugin interface which i'm going to be messing around with to perhaps help write some media streamers for other currently not supported web content. theres a website that focuses on playon plugins not created by the official company. playonplugins.com, which some of the users have created plugins like GameTrailers and ESPN.

in my current quest/experiment to see how feasible it is to cut off cable tv, i'm anxious to help push watching tv through digital on demand streaming. so anyway, i'll see if i manage to code anything useful. the plugin api supports C#, and im guessing alot of the Flash to MPEG encoding is provided by the backend, so hopefully getting the flash stream off the HTTP server could provide the content to stream through the transcoder out to the DLNA service.
