gba console/handheld programming
so i got a xg2 linker cart and cable for my gba the other day, and i've been just mucking with it, seeing how the linker operates and whatnot.. now that i've gotten over the "does it work" hurdle i've started to investigate the architecture and how to program the gba.
i started with gbadev, which has a good amount of links to follow regarding tools, demos, source, and tutorials. naturally i skipped all the cruft and went straight into docs/tutorials; it's my nature to jump right into a project.
i read through cearn's tonc documents and have begun paging through dovoto's pern project. there's something exciting about twiddling with the inner workings of a hardware platform, versus using the higher level languages and libraries that we programmers use and depend on for most all desktop (win32/linux) projects.
if you know me you know i've been twiddling with some 2d scroller code, i'm not sure to what degree of what i've envisioned for the desktop will work on the gba, but i'm sure gonna try.
