call me ishmael

my so called life

so it's a volatile time i'm my brain, lots of ideas starting and bouncing around in there. lots of game ideas getting tossed around, looking at mobile as well as computer platforms to make them for. writing a game requires a larger group, developers and artists. part of the fun is to gather up a group to work on the game, piece working the games concept through the visions and ideas previously displayed by the working group. the games are just a vision to be realized, it's exciting to see it come to fruition.

the game i've been conceptually working on is nicknamed phase, i'm starting it back up and looking for some artists to help envision and create the world it lives in. the general idea of the game is like the old tv show "Sliders", where the worlds they warp to are all alike except for a few key things. this is the general idea of phase, however the differences will change how gameplay and the mechanics of the game operate as you switch between the phases. an example might be how gravity works, perhaps reversed, in another phase of the world so traveling around the game map will require you to walk on what we'd call a ceiling.. etc.

a project i'm working on, dubbed project atomic, is a combination of a server and hacking of an android game to extend the functionality of the game. the most easy to plan and come up with are ways to extend and automate the already present functions of the game so many of the things can be done quicker or without user input/intervention. the modifications of the game code are minor, and since the target game is actually using webpages as the bootstrapping method to functionality (back to the game server where actual game functions and modifications take place) it's really just a matter of modifying the webpages and redirecting the target pages in the html. the targets could then access the server code of project atomic, and the functionality can be automated. simple in theory, takes a little bit of trickery to pull off, but i'm having fun doing it :)

so that's two current projects.. more on them another time.
